Culture Incubation Agar plates need to incubated upside down. The bottom is the part with the agar in it. This keeps the condensation from dripping on the agar.

Agar plates need to be held closed with 2 pieces of tape from base to lid or placed in a holder. This is to prevent contamination of the person who handles the plate from "bacteria drippings".

Agar plates and broths are placed in an incubator. Incubators are ovens that can be set to a specific temperature. For the growth of bacteria from the inside of the body(human or animal), the incubator should be set at 37 C. To prevent the growth of possible pathogens in the school setting, either set your incubator to 25 C or simply leave the plates and broths at room temperature.
