What is bacteriology? Bacteriology is a branch of microbiology that studies bacteria.
What is a bacterium?
  • single cell organism
  • all have 3 common characteristics
    • covered by a rigid cell wall and internal membrane
    • DNA that is not wrapped in a membrane (nucleoid) and called a prokaryote
    • few internal organs (organelles)
