Shigella

caused by Shigella dysenteriae, Shigella flexneri, Shigella boydii, Shigella sonnei

Shigella is a water bourne disease contracted by coming in contact with the bacteria. The bacteria is usually carried in infected organisms feces. Diarehhea, slight fever and dehydration are common symptons that normally begin to show in about one to three days after contact with the bacteria. The bacteria usually lasts about four to seven days before your body fights it off. To avoid this bacteria, you must be careful not to swim in or consume infected water and be sure to wash hands thoroughly with warm soapy water after changing diapers.
