CTSO

What is a CTSO? A CTSO is a career-technical (that's what vocational schools are called now) student organization. A CTSO is a local (here at MVCTC), regional (Southwest OHIO), state, and national organization.

So? As a student at MVCTC you are a member of a CTSO. There are seven CTSO's at MVCTC.
Which one is yours? You belong to SkillsUSA-VICA I. There are four VICA chapters at CTC and you are a member of SkillsUSA-VICA I. All the Health classes including Tech Prep, Cosmo, and Dental are in VICA I.
What do you do? Your CTSO involves a monthly chapter meeting with all the other VICA I classes and periodic class meetings. A CTSO is a way for you to have guest speakers, develop leadership skills, compete in leadership and skills contests, and participate in social activities.
What are some of the contests that I can be involved in? The skills contests include Basic Health Care Skills, First Aid/CPR, Nurse Assisting, Health Knowledge Bowl (my personal favorite), and Health Occupations Professional Portfolio. Some of the leadership contests are Job Interview, Prepared Speech, Promotional Bulletin Board, and Extemporaneous Speaking.
