High School: I attended Brecksville-Broadview Hts. High School, near Cleveland, Ohio. Brecksville is a Division I school in the Pioneer Conference.  My graduating class was approximately 250 students.  I played basketball and softball in high school.  I was involved in many other activities including French Club, Student Council, and National Honor Society.

College (Undergraduate): I attended Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio. It is a small Division III school. The total enrollment is about 1,100 students. I majored in biology. I have a minor in chemistry also. I considered going to med school for a very short time, but realized that I had no real interest in this. I decided that I definitely wanted to teach high school. I followed course work for comprehensive science. So, I also took some geology courses.

I played softball all four years. We went to Regionals my junior year. I played basketball 3 years. (I didn't play my senior year while I was student teaching; I did coach 8th grade girls basketball in Marietta.) I also played a year of soccer when I was a junior.

College (Graduate): I am currently working on my Masters at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. I took 3 courses this summer. The first was a Tropical Marine Ecology Class that went to the Bahamas. There is a lot of information about this trip with many pictures on the web. The other classes I took on campus at Miami. One was Animal Behavior and one was Internet Microbiology. This home page was part of my course requirements for Internet Microbiology. I have taken various other graduate courses at Ohio University, Ohio State, and the Communicate Institute through Walsh University.

Teaching Experience: I have taught 3 years in Belpre, Ohio. Belpre High School is a small school located between Marietta and Athens. I taught primarily biology, but I also taught integrated science. I also tutored college students at Washington State Community College in Marietta. I advised many activities at Belpre including, sophomore class, junior class, senior class, environmental club, science club, and student council.

Coaching Experience: I have coached middle school basketball for 4 years. I was an assistant varsity softball coach one year and also a middle school softball coach. I coached 7th grade volleyball last year.

Family:  I have two brothers and 1 sister.  I am the oldest.  My sister, Jackie, is 22.  She graduated this year from Grove City College in Pennsylvania with a degree in accounting.  She played basketball at Grove City. She is working in Cleveland at a bank.  My brother, Joe, is 20.  He is a junior at Marietta College, majoring in accounting.  He plays lacrosse at Marietta too.  My brother, Jonathan, is 18.  He graduated from high school this June.  He will be a freshman at Ohio State this fall.  He plans to study finance.  My parents, Jean and Joe, own their own business.  It is a wholesale bakery named Becker's Bake Shop.  They sell pizzelles, angel wings, and biscotti.

Interests: I love just about all sports.  I am a big fan of Cleveland sports teams (the Indians, Browns, and Cavs).  I usually get to go to some games.  Besides, Cleveland teams, I like to watch college basketball.  Since graduating from college, I don't get to play sports as much.  I make up for this by coaching.  I also enjoy being outdoors.  I like to read and listen to all different kinds music.  I like most animals also.  I have a cat named Sadie.  I have a rabbit named Tigger.  I also have two 55 gallon fish tanks.  One tank has assorted community fish.  The other has cichlids, which are aggressive fish.  In the past I have had guinea pigs and hamsters in my classroom too.
