Shock
- during the 40 C pretreatment a very limited number of proteins
are made -all other production is halted. The proteins produced are called
heat shock proteins. They are labeled by molecular weight and Hsp thus Hsp
70 etc.
- These proteins are very similar from wide ranging organisms
- Some of these proteins are only made during heat shock
- Some proteins are constitutive under normal conditions but
up-regulated during stress
