The Haemophilus influenzae Rd Genome Database (HIDB)

The Haemophilus influenzae Rd genome is the first genome of a free living organism to be completed. This work has been published in Fleischmann et. al., Science 269:496-512, 1995 ( request reprint). This page offers access to the latest versions of the sequence data and related annotation. An expanded, hypertext-linked version of the gene identification table (Table 3) from the article is also available.

A circular representation of the H. influenzae Rd genome illustrating the location of each predicted coding region containing a database match as well as selected global features of the genome including a unique Not I restriction endonuclease site (designated as nucleotide 1). (Figure 1, Fleischmann et. al., Science 269:496-512, 1995).

The Haemophilus influenzae Rd strain is available from the American Type Culture Collection (ATCC) as accession 51907.
Haemophilus influenzae clones may be ordered from the TIGR/ATCC Microbial Genome Special Collection. Clones may be accessed through the Gene Identification Table, Name Search, or HI Search.
