I think that the one I found on Photosynthesis would prove very
useful to any s tudent because it provided in rough outline form
alot of the steps to Photosynt hesis. I really liked the cross
reference I did to The Biology Home Page as we ll.

I was attracted to this URL because I now have a better
understanding of protein building and how it contriubutes to
cellular propagation. All cancer research is a step in the right
direction so any article is deserving of merit. Despite the
technical jargon that inhabited this text, I learned than cancer
research is not limited to human and anumal studies, but plants
also.

This particular URL would be of interest to students because it
discusses the importance of photosythesis to life and outlines the
essential features of plants.

This site describes the process of photosynthesis very well. I
found it intere sting, and helpful. It explains the why's, what's,
and how's of this process.

I found the article on different pigments of the plant very
interesting and I belive other students might also. The
explanations of the different pigments and the research
applications add insight to the lecture.

This was a page about a summer internship/job offered by Arizona
State Universi ty. It involved testing and laboratory experiences
that would provide the stud ent with on hand experience. This
could be interesting and a good opportunity for those who want to
learn more about science in a summer program.

The article is called "Why Study Photosynthesis?" and it discusses
the importance of photosynthesis and why we should further research
the subject. I think it would be of interest to the students
because it actually relates photosynthesis and science to our lives
and stuff we really care about. It reminds us not to take this
biological process for granted. Phototosynthesis is critical to
maintaining and improving the quality of life on earth. I found it
especially interesting that photosynthesis is actually involved in
technological studies. It may help scientists make new electronic
devices. Clearly, it affects everything around us more than we
realize.

I think this article would be interesting to people in this course
because it gives us the opportunity to see how technology is
playing a part in nature. It also reminds us that photosynthesis is
actually occuring all the time, it isn't something that we just
study in class.

One reason why I think people may findd this interesting is that we
studied volvox in 115 and it is a widely know colonial organism.
Personally I knew what volvvox was before I was in high school
because I was involved in a National Science Foun dation Young
Scholars program. Also it has two pages of pictures on the llli
fe cycle of the volvox which will aid people who are visual
learners.

This is a discussion page, so different viewpoints and explanations
for things can be explored. This would be an easy way for students
to find up-to-date information on the topic provided.

it's a paper on the 3 principals of sustaining growth- the reason
i thought it would be good for students is because it combines
specialization, diversity, and complexity to talk about botany
which kind of ties together everyting we've done in bmz so far. i
thought it was interesting but that's just me. there is a really
cool quote in it too, "trees are high technology. chips and rockets
aren't". i liked it. i'm not sure if this is the type of thing you
wanted or not, i guess i'll just wait to hear from you.

Photosynthesis is responsible for fulfilling all of our food needs
and many of our fibers are a result of this process as well. I
highly recommend viewing this to any student interested in gaining
a better understanding of photosynthesis.

I have read through this ariticle and I feel that it would be very
beneficial to my fellow classmates in BMZ 116. Photosynthesis is
a viable process that affects us all, without it, life as we know
it would not exist. Though for our purposes (BMZ 116) this paper
is a little bit to involved, it and the www can only be an asset
to learning the concepts that lie within.

This particular web site is about the different types of pigments,
what plants have what pigments, and information along those lines.
Students in this class can get a better understanding of the
wavelengths a pigment is prone to absorb and why plants give off
the colors they do. It's really cool!!:)

This article on photosynthesis would help the students of this
course interpret Figure 7.3 of our textbook by describing the
reflection and absorb-tion of certain wavelengths by plants. It
also describes the three types of pig ments, which are the means by
which sun energy is used for photosynthesis.

I think this would be of some intrest to students because it gives
a description of the different photosynthetic pigments. It also
explains what organisms have them. Also there are other things
about plants that you can surf to from here. It has a really
great bacteria section too.

I think this site would be of interest to students in this course
because it contains information about photosynthesis and why leaves
change color in the fall. Also, there are experiments provided
about using chromatography in order to separate colors in leaves
and observing how light affects color development. Although the
site is geared toward youths, students would like to read about
photosynthesis and perform the hands-on experiments.

This web site would be interesting to future students of this

helps give a better understanding of both photosynthesis and
cellular respiration by the illustrations it includes.

This page is made up from the notes of a professor at the
University of Alberta. His wording is extremely clear and he uses
an array of illustrations to make the concepts he teaches very
understandable. Just to give you an example, his first section
deals with bacteriochlorophyll photosynthesis in prokayotes and
uses a colorful picture drawing to show how sunlight is used to
maintain a "proton gradiant in a purple bacterium." I do think that
the students of BMZ 116 (Sec. C) could benefit from looking at his
page and would find his concice ideas very enjoyable.

I think phycobilins would be an interest of study because algae
plays such a vital part in the ecosystem. With the increasing
environmental problems, scientists need to understand all aspects
that organisms play which would definately include alge.

After trying a few times, I was able to locate a URL on
photosynthesis that interested me. The URL citation is
I found this URL important and interesting to myself, as well as
future BMZ students because it stated how important photosynthesis
is to all living organism. Ultimately, all food comes from plants.
No plants can live without photosynthesis, so therefore life would
be nonexistent without it. Secondly it stated why it is important
to understand all the processes of photosynthesis; by understanding
each and every part of this energy-acquiring pathway mankind might
be able to avoid adversely affecting this crucial process.

This site tells why it is so important to even study
photosynthesis. I think this is important for students to
learn about because many people don't appreciate exactly why
we need to learn about it. It would be of interest to students
because it is fun to use the WWW instead of just hearing
lectures about things in class or reading about them in the

This citation deals with the chemicals that are used for
agriculture and their effects on food and the enviornment. I think
that this would be interesting because the enviornment is a
concern of everyone in this world and I think that many people
would be inte rested to find out what chemicals are doing to our
envionrment and how we can c hange this. Although this doesn't
have a direct corelation with the material w e are learning in
class, I think that it would be effective in helping people t o
understand "the big picture". People would see how the processes
we are lear ning about are effected by the chemicals used in
agriculture.

I feel that this site would be very beneficial to the class,
explaining in great detail the importance of Photosynthesis and the
role which it ultimately play in our lives. It gives information
on helping in agricultural benefits, energy production, controlling
the environment, and its use in electronics and MEDICINE. Also
explains in detail how and why photosynthesis works!!!!!!!!!!!!

I found the Arizona State photosynthesis center. The one section
of this ho mepage that I found particularly interesting was the
rundown of all the members /professors of the center and their

provides a concise "library" of research topics and pote ntial
information outlets for the student.

I believe that students would find this particular site of interest
because it not only tells of the process of photosynthesis, but
also informs the reader of why each particular step takes place.
Furthermore, it gives examples of how scientists are experimenting
with the fundamental basics of photosynthesis and gives examples
of how these experimnets have been applied to today's socie ty.

Description: This site talked about energy and it's purpose. This
is an important topic for students to be interested in because it
pertains to all of us. Also, it talks about the growth, survival,

bodies, and in this section, we learn about the way our bodies use
energy.

This site would be useful to future BMZ students because it has

a further understanding on how different pigments affect the
photosynthetic prop erties in plants.
