Lab 3: Bragg Diffraction of X-rays and of Electrons
(1) Using the geometry of the diffraction seen in first figure, derive the Bragg condition for constructive interference.
(2) Setting the accelerating voltage potential equal to the
KE of the electron, solve for the wavelength in Eq (1) of the e- diffraction
experiment.
(3) If you were designing an x ray source or electron source
for a diffraction experiment, what characteristics would you need the source
to display in order to get the information you need to infer the
structure of the samples?
