From Meadsville, PA.
Michael McClimans got his BS in physics from Edinboro Univ. in 2003,
and his MS in physics from Miami Univ in 2006. He joined the Miami
MOTsquad in the spring of 2004. Besides his interest in cold atom
physics, Michael has built a refractometer that can perform real-time
measurements of changes in the refractive index of transparent fluids
at better than the 10-5 level. This refractometer does not
rely on interferometry thus enabling the device to be compact,
portable, and inexpensive. Michael also performed preliminary sensitive
refractive index measurements with turbid fluids.
