Laura Feeney is a founding member of the Miami MOTSquad. She
spent the summer of 2001 working at NIST in Bill Phillips' group,
followed by two semesters plus a half summer worth of lab research at
Miami. Laura won a prestigious Astronaut Scholarship in her
senior year. She graduated with a BS in Physics from Miami U. in 2002.
Laura received offers from several top notch physics PhD programs,
including Cornell, UColorado-Boulder, UMichigan-Ann Arbor, and Rice.
She joined Prof. Dan Heinzen's group at UT-Austin and
worked on the electron dipole measurement experiment for two years
before
graduating in 2004 with a Master's in Physics.
Update 2008: Laura has been
happily
employed at National Instruments for the past 3 years. She says, "I'm
very happy at NI - my 1.5 years were spent doing technical support of
our products. We have some great products and they use this program as
a training ground for technical people to move in to other career
tracks. My last 1.5 years have been spent working on our website, in
particular our Discussion Forums. My role is more of a community
manager now and I project manage new features we are releasing on our
website. I get to interact with many of our customers and people
throughout NI and I really enjoy it." Thanks, Laura, for the update!
