2000 Monroe Hornet Invitational

 

The Reading Blue Devils entered eight wrestlers into the first annual Hornet Invitational. These eight young men did extremely well. The team competed against division one schools such as Hamilton, Lebanon and Northwest as well as other larger schools like Springboro and McNicholas.

The Reserve team placed six wrestlers out of their possible eight and placed fourth overall as a team.

Tim Hasty's experience lead the young team that had 4 freshmen and 2 sophomores. Tim had the most wins, near fall points and pins. Hasty won all four of his matches and placed 1st.

Tom Frohmiller wrestled well and won three matches to place 3rd.

Andrew Carpenter made it to the finals by winning a 10-8 overtime match in the semi-finals. He then lost to Northwest. This effort earned him a second place medal.

Chris Carter won a thrilling semi-final match before losing to Northwest in the finals. Chris placed 2nd.

Mike Vonbargen went two and two and earned a 4th place medal, pinning two opponents along the way.

Andrew Carey placed 2nd.
